Climate Tent

Multimedia project for my IB visual arts course

This was an IB project in which we were given a tent and prompted to make anything we wanted out of it, for use in a school exhibition. My idea was to create a symbol of hope amidst a future climate catastrophe. To do this, I animated a loop to be projected onto the outside of the tent, and I stencilled and painted the tent’s sides. I filled the inside with plants and a yellow lamp to mimic natural light. The tent was interactive and invited viewers to sit inside the space, and this text was presented alongside:

“This tent symbolises the last of humanity, preserved amidst a climate catastrophe. It acts as an ark and a shelter, a harsh reminder of what we have to lose, but at the same time a source of hope for what can be saved.”
